Planted by nature and gathered by the hands of our industrious, nomadic beekeepers. We present you our Mid-Season Yemen Sidr Honey, an ambrosial rarity! This precious bee-delight has its origin in the fertile valleys of Wadi Do’an, Hadramout in Yemen where the Sidr trees (Ziziphus spina-christi) grow. The numerous thorns on their branches are embraced by a bunch of yellow flowers that contribute greatly to the uniqueness of our Sidr honey, turning it into an exotic, liquid “gold”, known for its potent therapeutic properties.

About this batch — Mid-Season, end of 2024

This is a limited clearance batch from our Hadrami beekeepers’ end-of-2024 mid-season harvest — 18 gallons in total. It meets the same quality bar as every batch we sell (raw, never heated, lab-tested). Being a year older, it pours a darker amber, tastes slightly sweeter, and is naturally closer to crystallizing — a normal stage in the life of raw honey. Gently warm the sealed gallon in warm water to return it to a liquid state at any time.

Format

Sold in a 7 kg (15.4 lb) food-grade gallon only. One gallon per order line.

But what makes our honey so special?

Yemeni Sidr Honey is one of the finest honeys in the world. Its elite reputation is built through the distinctive features of the sacred Sidr trees (Ziziphus spina Christi, L. Willd.). The Sidr tree has a unique, aromatic smell that easily attracts the bees that look forward to the rich feast served in the flower caps of these trees. The nectar produced inside the flowers is extremely potent and full of nutritional values which contribute to the medicinal qualities of the honey. The Sidr trees grow uncultivated in the desolated areas of Yemen, untouched by chemicals, drugs nor modern machinery. The honey is produced with traditional beekeeping methods that include only simple tools but a lot of diligence and well-preserved craft passed on to generations.

The result?
A product with no pesticides, toxins or antibiotics. Handmade raw honey containing vital enzymatic constituents preserved through the minimal processing and pasteurizing. Honey with a distinctive flavor, luring smell and numberless health properties- the Yemen Sidr Royal Honey.
